curious colours?!

Hi,
I have one male and two female veiled chams. My oldest (ginger) did the really dark green with yellow and blue, beautifully, so we set up a different flexarium for her, that is a little more sparce, with two tubs of humus for the laying bit... this morning she is still very dark, but not with the colour, which leads me to believe that she isnt preggers?!

her flex is next to the other guys, and she is glinging onto the side where he (fred) is (if that makes any sense at all).

in the mean time the other female (grace) is now the dark colours with the blues and yellows?!

Erm... obviously, this is all a little confusing?! please can someone advise?

thanks you

Sam

Were all three being housed together originally and you have since moved her? I am a little confused about the total picture.

all sorted

hey, sorry about the confusion it is all sorted now. females are separated, but the 'pregnant' colours seem to fade away, and only become prominent when they are near other chameleons, is that normal?!

It is normal...they can lose the gravid/non-receptive colors and then bring it back again when they need to.

I'm glad you have a place to dig in the females' cages though, because they are likely producing eggs.
