Cleaning the cage?

Hi all,

Just curious where you place your chameleons when you are cleaning their cages? I know Chameleons tend to get stressed quite easily so I try to clean the cage slowly but realized that is very difficult with him in it so I take him out and have him roam around my room freely.. not sure if that is a good idea but was curious what you guys do when cleaning the cage?

Thanks

As long as you don't loose him then you are fine. I personally just clean around my guy but I mostly spot clean because the plants and branch are a pain in the rump to take out and put back in completely.

Does he get startled when you do the spot cleaning? I recall a few times I reached my hand in his cage to clean something and he just freaked out.. I guess that is the only alternative is to do that if I don't take him out of the cage

I have a fake tree for her when I have to take her out. I'm hoping to get a full sized ficus someday.

But my juvenile F veiled doesn't freak at much. Twice when I've had to reach in near her and she hissed and puffed and gaped, I just pulled back a little and left the hand in there for her to figure out. It only took half a minute or so.

Yes when I put him on the curtain, he started climbing it. They seem to be very curious when they are out of the cage. When he is in his cage, he seems to hide but when I take him out, he walks around everywhere. I thought it was very cool. Here is a picture of him climbing the curtain
