Cicada Killer Wasp for Lunch

I caught an Eastern Cicada Killer wasp, shook it in a dusting cup,, and removed the stinger. This thing is LARGE but my little friend chewed it up like popcorn. I put a couple drops of distilled water in her mouth while she chewed and it went right down the hatch. Sorry Emmy, no crickets tomorrow!

That is too cool!

I try to give my little buddy some variety. As I sat on my back porch I heard a very loud buzzing sound against the porch screens. I heard cicadas earlier in the day so it makes sense that these guys would come around! I caught it pretty easily with a Rubbermaid cup against the screen and shook it up to stun it, the poor thing. The stinger was huge and so easy to remove. Here is a photo I found online to show how big the stingers get!

It's good your giving variety. Must of been like eating a cheeseburger. Knowing how much they love bee's and wasp's.

We don’t have cicadas or those wasps in Maine and I’m glad! Lol!

I walked outside today and there was a big mound of what looked like sand next to the sidewalk. My husband swore it was a mole or vole that burrowed there, and I said it was a cicada killer. He didn’t believe me… Until one started flying around me and I did the ”get away from me!” dance.
