Hey i came home from work and my chameleon is sitting next to the uvb bulb, with one side flat and shes really dark, is it normal for them to sit near the bulb and just chill there ?

Mine is doing it everyday, but I've only had him for less than a week. I think it's normal as long as they move to cover later on.

they go flat to expose more of them selves to the light and turm dark to help absorb the light.

mine did it a lot when i first got it at 2 months old. now it goes there for a little bit and goes somewhere else...but does it more frequently.

Also you should have your lights set up so that the chameleon can bask under both the heat lamp and the UVB bulb, they can't absorb the rays without being warm. Just FYI if you're not doing this already :)

thanks guys, thompson, she has a tube bulb that goes the full length of the tank, she has a high rising branch that goes under the heat lamp and direct in front of the uvb, so she can absorb all the head and uv she wants,
