I noticed about two-3 weeks ago that my cham stopped sitting under his UVB light. he's very healthy but i thought it was weird for him to stop sitting under it like he used to. i wonder why?
Could be more of a heat regulation thing? Its a shot in the dark, but I know the temperatures have risen at least 5-10 degrees than he was used to in my room due to summer temps, so mine's sitting a few branches lower than he used to. That said, he's still in the UVB... so I'm not sure. Just a thought though!
Have you been taking him outside a lot? If theirs reflectors from the hoodnfor the uvb bulb I wouldn't trip about it. According to a research I read on chameleons they may be able to visibly see UV rays, which is crazy. He may be digesting calcium perfectly fine and not needing direct rays of the uvb. If he's healthy I wouldn't worry!
i take him outside once a week if the weather permits. his UVB is a strip so it also runs the length of his cage and yes it has reflectors, it's a zoomed. He is eating a lot of dark greens from a bowl (which is hilarious) and i dust with calcium like i'm supposed too so i guess he is fine. Very healthy, eats like a horse lol
Agree with nickypav, if he want's/needs uvb, your chameleon will know where to find it.
Most likely getting enough when outside. Makes such a difference allowing them to get natural sunlight, as opposed to artificial uvb in an enclosure setting.
