Brookesia perarmata

i have been doing some reseach and looking for a "special Chameleon"
i did happen to stumble across this fella.
i was curious to know if they were available? it was a little difficult to find
some information on them, but did find some on husbandry.
i would much rather go the route with these guys instead of Brevs.
any additional information would be great. Husbandry and where i could find one or 2

i figured that would be the case. in both areas.
well, as you can see i am looking for a unique chameleon.
would you have any suggestions

If I am not mistaken B. perarmata now holds the distinction of being the only chameleon listed on CITES Appendix 1. This means that international trade is completely restricted, the same as Fiji Iguanas, Komodo Dragons, Tuataras, etc. And yeah, not easy to care for.

Justin, There is a similiar looking pygmy that I saw on one of the sites for sale. I can't remember what it's name is but it has that armoured look to it. Didn't look like the bearded brevs at all. I know absolutely nothing about any of the pygmies though so maybe someone who does will chime in. It's on one of the popular sites like FLchams though I don't think thats it. If I run across it again, I'll PM you. Good luck. David

I understand that you are looking for a unique chameleon...but its very likelky that that chameleon will be much more difficult than the ones normally available.

ok well if anyone has a suggestion for an easy to Get, out of the ordinary cham let me know. I am looking.

Spiney chameleon is neat. Have one on flchams I think. First choice either has them or is expecting. Their a furcifer I believe, WC though.

If you previously have experience with pygmy species, then you might want to look into;
Brookesia thieli
Brookesia therezieni
Brookesia superciliaris

However I'd start out with a Rhampholeon or Rieppeleon species first if not...

yea i agree, i should start with something easier. i dont think i will have a problem with them. they are going to be kept at work, so they will get a lot of attention. i ahve two cages ready to go, but no chameleon to put in them. one is for an arboreal chameleon and another is set up for a pygmy. i am having trouble finding the ones you listed Will. i have found them, but they are sold out. thanks for all the help i will continue my hunt. their is a show coming up soon and i will try there.:D

The species listed have very limited quotes filled in exports. You'll see a small number come in this year I'm sure. (FLChams, Nick Mole). Other than that, you might ask Heika and Roo if they have any availabilities.

Chamaeleo Trioceros Oweni is this species of chameleon hard to come across?
i did read it adcham.com i think, in the brief article about them the reference said Malabar Florida. this is about 5 mins from where i live.

Nick Mole imported some C.T.oweni in late 2006 I think? I could be mistaken on the date though. I haven't seen them since then, neither for years before that. I checked on the 2008 Export Quota lists and it doesn't look like any will be legally exported this year.
