Blowing Nostril Bubbles

I have a 7 month old male ambilobe.

He came to me from the breeder's with a tongue injury. His tongue only extends about 1.5", and the tip of it is black and split like a snake's tongue. Nonetheless is a great eater and has no problems catching his prey with accommodations.

Anyways, recently when he drinks (laps droplets off of leaves), he ends us blowing bubbles out of either (or both) of his nostrils. My biggest concern is obviously that of him aspirating on the water, and URI.

Any ideas? I can't really prevent him from drinking...

I'm sorry to here about your boy. It sounds like an RI. You definately need to get him to a reptile vet for a culture and sensitivity test so the vet can put him on the correct antibiotic. I'm attaching some useful links about RI's.

Hi, chameleons can appear to have a slight fork at the tip of the tongue and the tip can also appear discolored ranging from white to black.

I cant say that i have ever encountered a situation with a healthy chameleon drinking and blowing bubbles afterwards. Would lead me to agree with jannb of a possible RI. Is the chameleon gaping majority of the time? Is the head/body pointed vertically majority of the time? Throat area appear wollen? Excess saliva or bubbles forming on the lips constantly?

Back on the 22nd of January, ataraxia and I recommended a trip to the vet to determine what was going on. Did you get any results from that?

He's very active, eats very well, is fat, and not showing any signs of RI. Head's not up, mouth is never open, no saliva, throat not swollen. Obviously no wheezing either.

Yes. Perfectly fine, all tests came back clean. And I don't think it was a recommendation to determine what was going on, as there was nothing going on. The reply was regarding a post that questioned about what percentage of the chameleon population are stringent about annual wellness visits.
