my filter wont connect to my bulkhead on the inside of the reservoir. It just doesn't fit properly i cant get it to piece together.

Is the O-ring on the bulkhead on the outside of the reservoir? It should be (page 21, #3.)

3. Take the bulkhead and put the rubber o-ring onto
it so it sits tight against the non-moveable side.
Insert the bulkhead all the way, as far as it will
go, so the o-ring sits on the outside of the
container, squeezed between the bulkhead and
the container surface.

IIRC, you need a short piece of tubing to go between the bulkhead and the filter.

i cant believe i couldnt figure out how to put it together lol. what took me two days should've took me 20 minutes if that lol

It didn't take me 2 days, but it was much longer than 20 minutes. IMO they could have done a better job of writing & organizing the manual.

Now that i've got it set up, how often and how long should each misting last?

That depends on how well you can maintain humidity, but at least twice during the day for drinking.
I'm a little more Humidity-challenged, so I do several more than that—lights on, noon, lights off, 9pm, midnight, 3pm.

First time, I left it on only until everything got a good soaking and water began to run off & down into the drain pan (2 min.) Distilled water is an expense, so no point in just letting it run down the drain.
So every misting is set for 2 min.
