Beardies

Obsessive glass scratching explained. How could I forget about the anoles that love to hang out on the window screen? I caught this one head bobbing and inflating his gular pouch…almost like he’s taunting Spike. Guess it’s time to modify his view a bit.

Yes, tons of them. No idea what type they are but they are pretty. Here’s one I rescued from certain death inside the house. Little guy lost the end of his tail somewhere.
I wasn't entirely sure those are anoles. BICBW. I only kept greenies.
Goggle Image thinks they're an "agamid lizard" (big friggin' help... 😖)

Hold da phone... There's one on Wiki that's close, captioned "Florida female" so I guess they are.

The pattern threw me off, and I'm used to the toe pads.

They are pretty little things.

It might be a Cuban brown anole. I’ve heard that they’ve displaced the native ones.
Yup.
The brown anole (Anolis sagrei), also known commonly as the Cuban brown anole, or De la Sagra's anole,[2] is a species of lizard in the family Dactyloidae. The species is native to Cuba and the Bahamas. It has been widely introduced elsewhere, via the importation and exportation of plants where the anole would lay eggs in the soil of the pots, and is now found in Florida and as far north in the United States as southern Georgia, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Hawaii, and Southern California.[3][4][5] It has also been introduced to other Caribbean islands, Mexico, and Taiwan.

This species is highly invasive.[6] In its introduced range, it reaches exceptionally high population densities, is capable of expanding its range very quickly, and both outcompetes and consumes many species of native lizards, like the green anole.[7][8][9][10] The brown anole's introduction into the United States in the early 1970s[11] has altered the behavior and negatively affected populations of the native Carolina anole (Anolis carolinensis, also known as the green anole), which have since generally been relegated to the treetops.

Ooh, I like it! 🤗 Especially the parts where he gets frustrated and snarfs a piece of salad! ;)
I tried a ping-pong ball with Ol' Stinkeye, but he couldn't care less.

OK, so where do we get them and how many limbs do they cost? 😁

I tried a ping pong ball too and same…no reaction. Thrive makes the beardie ball, so available at your local PetSmart for the low low price of $4.99.

OK, I found it.
The toy so nice, they listed it twice. 🤷‍♂️

This may be one of the funniest listings I've ever seen... :ROFLMAO:
$4.99
or 4 interest-free payments of $1.25
Directions: Place your reptile's favorite treat in the ball and watch them interact. Live insects are best (sold separately).
Uh-oh. It doesn't come with insects? That could be a deal-breaker right there!

MissSkittles, have you tried a blueberry in it?

Has anyone tried any of these other "bearded dragon toys for lizards to play with"?

Most of this stuff I probably wouldn't even consider, but another one that cracked me up is:

I gotta think Missus could probably whip one up from quilting scraps.

I haven’t tried anything other than superworms in it. Those are his absolute favorite and the only thing to make him come down from basking.
Why would anyone need a snuggly thing to hold their beardie? They naturally sit on your shoulder very well. The balls on the string…besides just something for him to bang against his enclosure and make even more noise, I’d be worried that he could get tangled in the string. I do like the bath floaties, but wouldn’t their sharp claws puncture them pretty quickly?

Apart from the holes, I wonder if something like these might work...

I might be able to get one out of a gumball machine for less than $5, and a lot closer than Pet—

I was thinking of trying a roach and/or a berry. Since his diet, Stinkeye is more active and interested in any kind of food that moves.

Missus thinks the snuggly thing would be good if/when the power goes out to keep Stinkeye & Mitch warm. (I think she just wants to make one—she's crafty... )
I'd be hesitant to walk around with Stinkeye just on a shoulder; sometimes on my stomach he makes a break for it, and isn't afraid of jumping from a height. I'd feel safer.

I agree about anything with strings, including leashes. Too many raptors around here; they'll fly down within a few feet of us and grab a mouse, mole, or chipmunk. Last thing I want to do with a beardie is have a tug-o-war with a red-tailed hawk or peregrine falcon. 🤨

No idea if those balls would work. I would think the plastic would be thin and easy to crack.
Spike still refuses roaches and usually only takes a small nibble of his salads. With his refusal to eat most of his salad along with his frenetic jumping around and glass surfing, he’s back to his pre-brumation weight.
I sit outside in the sun with Spike on my shoulder/upper chest for only about 15+/- minutes and he’s pretty good about staying. As soon as he starts to show the slightest sign of getting antsy though, we’re back inside. It’s usually around the same time that I’ve had enough of the heat and sun.
