Baytril and hydration

So my chams are only on day two of baytril and have already stopped drinking, what can I do to keep them hydrated?

Hydration and extra water is extremely important want giving baytril which I'm sure you already know. I would try to get them water by other means like injecting a feeder with water, giving them showers, or worse case syringe feed them the water they need.

I've got my weekly delivery of worms and crickets coming in today. I ordered some baby hornworms as they are full of water so hopefully that'll help

I think its time to invest in a automated mist system. Set it to go off a few times each day for 15 or 20 minutes. I know my sternfeldi like to just sit in the mist.

I agree with Carl. I made sure to keep my fogger on full blast while Zuri was being treated. If the fogger is on full blast it does create water droplets on the leaves. I'd like to get a mist system but I need to save for one!

With the exception of them not drinking one of them is already looking better so I guess the cottonseed oil must be helping, I think it's too soon for the baytril to be working

I try to get them outside everyday, it's supposed to rain here today though and is very overcast. Maybe by this afternoon it will get sunny

When my Meller's, Guin, was on antibiotics for her various infections I was also very worried about her kidneys. She was drinking but she did not feel well and her mouth hurt, so she wasn't super eager to use her mouth very often. So every time I syringe gave her her antibiotics I would add an extra few CCs of water to the syringe and deliver it all at once. Or bug juice, since she wasn't really eating either - but in either case it was a few more CCs of fluid.

But this is an almost 500 gram chameleon, so a few CCs is not a big deal. In a much smaller chameleon I would give them a much smaller amount, obviously. Their stomachs are not very big proportionately.

Hornworms were also a must during this time! They definitely are full of water, so they made a great food. And they were soft enough where it didn't hurt her mouth to chew them up.

I was told to mix the baytril with sugar water (suck the amount of baytril into the syringe then suck up sugar water) because it tastes gross.
Carl, u mentioned in one of Christine's posts to dip a few crix in yogurt, should I start doing that now?

With injecting baytril I don't know how much of the gut flora will be killed off. Any product that will help support beneficial bacteria growth is good, yogurt is just the easiest come buy.

They won't melt in the rain. :D The humid air will be good for them. Just be sure to cover half of the enclosure so they can move to areas that are drier.

It's not injections it's oral I just use the syringe to measure then take off the tip and put it in their mouth

So they're getting used to the meds, they actually open their mouths when I touch the syringe to their lips, which is good cuz this is also how I give them water since they aren't drinking. Their appetite has extremely decreased and I'm worried I will have to start force feeding :(
