I have had my male veiled chameleon for about a month now. He has a pretty bad attitude towards people. I was wondering if there were any ways to change his behavior around people???

ive had similar issues with my female veiled... i have hung a large golden pothos out side her enclosure, and when she wants out, she climbs the door.
ill open her door, and throw a vine into her enclosure. she will climb out, and... if its warm out side, i will take her out and hang her on the balcony.
she will climb up and onto my "tight rope". from that point, she will almost allow me to hold her, but she knows im going to take her into the sun... so she will climb on my hand, and not try to eat my fingers... its been slow, but she is coming around... ive had her since december.

the answer is no, not really. he might lighten up with food but chameleons are loners, they like their own space. they generally dont like being held and especially being bothered by multiple people. veiled are usually the most temperamental of them all. mine always hisses at me and smacks his mouth off me to try to scare me no matter how nice i am to him. its really just luck of the draw with these guys. if you get a nice one that likes to be held consider yourself very lucky. mine will however calm down and be nice when hes on my arm but im not sure if its just because hes scared.

It takes time, many months to help a chameleon become more friendly. Most veiled are grumpy in the cage but when you get them out they calm down. Hand feeding, taking them outside to bask are a few things you can do.

Yeah he will probably never like you. I have a friend who has a male veiled with an attitude. He is happy around his girlfriend (my chameleon) but that's it. Make sure he has enough food at all times, otherwise I would look into various forms of chameleon conditioning, possible even hypnosis.

I just got my veiled today. I got her from the pet store, and man was she mad when it was time to go home. The "reptile handler" was freaking out, people were surrounding us, telling their kids to "look", finally I got eye contact with her, placed my hand out, and she went from being nearly black to bright happy green. Once I was holding her she was fine, but when my boyfriend went to touch her she hissed and tried to bite him. I kind of laughed when he jerked back. We have a ball python, and he doesn't flinch if she strikes at him, but a little teeny chameleon strikes at you and you freak out? Lol. She seems to like me but no one else. Maybe cause I stay calm, even when she hisses and strikes at me. And I keep my hand there. So she knows I'm not gonna hurt her.
