I live on a hill, 5 miles~ from the beach in San Diego

Got a large yard with East and South facing walls in my backyard, been thinking of doing a outdoor enclosure
Anyone in the area or even Socal have some pictures of their outdoor enclosures, and how you deal with excessive heat possibilities?

Any tips would be great

Would be housing Jacksonii

I guess I missed this the first time you posted. I love this cage! Maybe I can build one (or get hubby to) for next summer. Do you have problems with predators where you are? I worry about racoons and skunks breaking in at night. I wouldn't leave a chameleon outside at night, but I wonder if they would wreck the enclosure.

Hey Scott, I keep my jacksonii jacksonii outside 24/7 until the temps drop below 40. I'm a bit closer to the water than you so it might be a tad warmer there but mine have always loved to bask, even on pretty warm days. I have them under partial shade now, but when they were in the middle of my old yard I would cover the tops of the cages with cardboard on very warm days. Lots of plants will help keep the temps from getting unbearable. At the size of yours, be very careful to not leave them where they can't get away from the sun into shade or a dense plant, etc. So far I haven't had a problem with predators, knock on wood. I try to keep all the cages off the ground, though.

This is a 2x2x3 cage:

How I keep my chams outdoors, for "Sun Days". All cages have about 40% of the top covered with a peice of white malamine, to provide shade and a full MistKing system fires every hour for 6 mins.

Today was a beautiful day, to get them out.:)

Here, I thought I was the only one who thought putting cages on the jacuzzi was a good idea!!

What u got there in the plastic cups?
