Amputation

Well my Ambanja "Gizmo" had to have the right hemi-penis amputated today due to prolapse

The vet was unable to get it to retract to place a stitch to keep it in place. Hopefully with the amputation all will be better now and he will not be in any pain go forward.

I am posting mainly as a reference so everyone can see what a prolapse looks like (in addition to the other items on the forum). He was treated by the vet numerous times before the drastic action we had to take but I believe it is for the best.

Fingers crossed that they other side remains "inside" until needed

are there "two sides" as far as hemipenis' go???? so one "side" can prolapse and the other remain inside??

LISAGR07 - yes, there are two sides and one can prolapse and the other not.

Berg - there is not a definitive reason, but one thought is that as they reach sexual maturity and start to produce and release sperm they injure it while attempting to deposit a sperm plug. I think this is what happened to my guy, but there could be other reasons as well.
