Ambilobe Possible Purchase

I have been looking to buy an Ambilobe Chameleon and I am a first time Chameleon buyer/owner. I have looked at many sites to purchase one and most are sold out. I have also been looking on Craigslist. I found one for sale only a couple hours away but before I make the drive and purchase I am seeking advice. This chameleon is supposedly a Blue Barred Ambilobe Panther but he doesn't seem to have a lot of colors like most I have seen. I will attach a photo at the bottom just to get some input as to if he looks healthy.

Craigslist isn't all bad!

I found my veiled chameleon on craigslist (I've had him 4 months now, he's great!) and it turns out the seller was my neighbor. Who knew!

It's understandable if you are worried about getting a specific color, especially if you are into Panthers rather than veileds, but sometimes it's impossible to say from just a picture. In person my cham turned out to have much more striking coloring in person than the few unflattering photos from his previous owner. The seller should have no problem sending you more pictures, or letting you meet him before agreeing to a purchase. Hope this helps!

He looks to be healthy in that picture. I would ask for some more and also of his current cage and setup as that will tell you a lot about his overall husbandry and care.

I would believe that he is from the Chameleon Company as the seller stated. The white under his chin is really only seen in the chameleons that are produced by the Chameleon Company.

As for exact local, I can't say for sure as he doesn't have the standard Ambilobe look but still a very beautiful panther.

Thanks everyone! I talked to the owner earlier and requested more photos so if I receive them I can post later. He did say the cage was a 18"x18"x36". That seems a little small to me but he looked like he had lots of room inside. I plan on hitting up the reptile expo here in town this weekend and see if any local breeders are there with babies before making any hasty purchase. I do appreciate the support!
