A special question about toe nails

My V-male Eye-gor, his toe nails are killing me! Anything special you do to wear them down? He has natural (cured) large grapevine in his enclosure, and he climbs all the time, however his nails are long and when he grabs you, OUCH! Any sugestions?

Wear gloves!!!! They need their nails for climbing and grabbking onto things so I think trimming them would be out of the question. Maybe you could talk to a vet about it, but I would never attempt anything like that myself, not to mention the stress it would probably cause. I know you didn't ask about trimming, but just in case you were thinking it!

i always put on a jumper and wear gloves when i handle my veiled, it doesnt hurt at the time but when i wash my hands after boy does it sting...

Thanks...

Nah just asking. I have had Veil's before but never one as big as him and his nails are large and in charge...

I suggest you get shirts with long sleeves, or dont handle him.

Are some of the branches in his cage a larger diameter than his feet can reach around? If he has to dig the tips of his claws into thicker branches rather than wrap his toes all the way around them it might help. But, I usually just wear a long sleeved shirt...melleri have HUGE mitts and a powerful grip!
