A little gapping ok?

I'm just wondering if my guy gapping every now and then is ok. He does it mostly in his basking spot and sometimes about mid cage but not for very long. Almost like a yawn. I'm 95% sure it's not an RI because he doesn't show any of the other symptoms and he will stop if I turn the light off. The temperature in his basking spot is always between 84 to 90 but never going above. It really depends on what the thermostat is set to in the house.

Anyways, I'm just curious if it's normal and will not hurt him if he gaps occasionally. Maybe he is just too lazy to move from his basking spot to regulate his temperature? I don't want to go down in size of the bulb because then he might get too cold. Other than this he is doing great.

They gape to help regulate their body temperature. They also yawn too. When it's shedding time they can open their mouth and twist around a bit too.

Ok, just making sure him gapping was ok even though I have his temps set correctly. I won't worry about him doing it then. Thank you!

I have had the same issue with Rocky my 3 month old veiled. He also shows no other symptoms of RI but occasionally gapes around the basking spot very slightly and very briefly. I get the idea that this is natural according to a lot of sources on here and elsewhere.
