A great place to live ...

A couple of posts have me wondering what a great place would be to live. Florida always sounds nice, but I understand it is quite humid and flat down there. Also the thought of Hurricanes gives me the willies. Hawaii sounds fun, but I guess it can be expensive and I wonder if they would allow you to import any chameleons?

Todd is evidently heading to Northern Cali and that would be a place I would choose too, but I don't like the taxes, inflation and politics of CA. Tyler lives in a HOA...heck no! Syn lives in AZ and that sounds great but then I get to thinking, " Gee, I bet their cooling bills are as high are our heating bills".

So where would be a good place to live? Yes, yes , no place is perfect but there are some things more important than others. Economy keeps me tied to the Seattle metro area and that is the ONLY reason, otherwise I would be out of this damp place.

What say you?

new jersey is expensive but has a nice four season climate and there arnt any natural disaters...exept a semi dangerous thunder stourm evey year or so.

but its too cold for chams most of the year...why not texas...like near dallas...away from tornadoes, near people, and away from the gulfs storms....?

I lived there, and my mom and sister still live there. Clean, frendly, full of nature, and some of the best outdoor activities in the world. It's one of the niciest places I have lived.

Florida isnt for everyone. it has two seasons. Summer and Fall haha. But great cham climate. and hurricanes arent that bad at all.

Texas is nice, the difference between my hometown, Katy (near Houston), and where I go to school, Lubbock (panhandle), is night and day. It snows here in Lubbock in the winter and is 105 in the summer. I like Texas weather. Only down side is... it takes forever to drive from on side of Texas to the other.

I grew up in Mesa, AZ and moved to Long Beach a handful of years back.
I love this city, it is a good mix of city, suburb, beach town, and college town.


Lots of ethnic food within 5 miles. The people here tend to be a bit more relaxed than those in LA as well.

Growing up in AZ then moving to LBC is like night and day. Love it here.

I hate the water here though, it is pretty nasty, a major port is here after all. I hate the traffic as well, but that and SoCal go hand in hand.

Upper Midwest (MN, MI, WI) gives you four seasons, lots of lakes and rivers and trees (before you hit the prairies in western MN). No hurricanes, relatively good on the earthquake front (knock on wood); there are tornados, but that seems a small price to pay. Only thing I regret is no mountains.

I'd have to say New Jersey isn't that bad especially in the northwestern part of it. But I'd prefer to live in Madagascar

Well I would have to say I have lived in Florida all my life and well im tired of it. The economy here is terrible as every where but its very expesive here. I really like NC and we are thinking of moving there not to cold not to hot very cheap looked at houses there. Houses in North Carolina are cheap and big saw one about a year ago that was 3 bedrooms on 3 acres $110k. My parents ended up buying it and lets just say there mortgage payment with insurance is cheaper then my car payment. LOL So North Carolina sounds like the place to be.

Florida's great!!! I love it and it's great for chams. Never to hot near the coast and never cold. It's like living in a tropical paradise and not too expensive to live there.

Allot of people come to FL for the winter....we call them snow-birds.

Can't forget about the Blue Hairs. You have to be careful during rain storms. They like to stop on the interstate when it gets really bad. I've almost killed myself a few times cause of them.

I've spent time all over this country. I mean real time. Weeks and months, here and there. And every time...Florida wins hands down. Snow sucks. It's pretty for about five minutes. Then it turns into a 15 ft tall mud filled pile on the corner of the street.
