A bit concerned about this lump....

I got this Chameleon from this guy and I just noticed the humongous lump on his face...I asked him what it was all about he told me that when Veiled Chameleons grow they get those lumps but they eventually go away with time he said its their "horns," going away or something about evolution...sounded like a bunch of bs...and it doesn't look good. Any idea of what it is or how I can find out?

Although I don't know what this lump is, I've never heard about horns going away or anything. You might want to take it to a herp vet. We could only speculate whats wrong with it. It could be just a deformity, but it might be a serious condition needing medical attention ASAP.
 
They don't just normally get giant lumps that go away nor is it any evolutionary horn issue. I would get to a Vet and find out what it is. Otherwise he looks to be in decent shape and fairly young. Not sure where you are, but it looks like you have him in a glass cage?

Yeah he's in an acrylic cage...I have a mesh one too...but this one has a lot more room. not much reflection.
 
what about his UV? is the top screen?

Why is the cage on the ground?

You shouldn't have a substrate in the cage...

Could you take a better pic of him and of your entire setup?

I would take him to the vet to see whats up with the lump. might be some kind of infection that could harm his right eye....

Who is this 'guy'? a breeder? craigslist? Nick?
 
what about his UV? is the top screen? Its acrylic on top with just wide opening with a piece in the middle that the light sits on...no mesh just wide openings..the light should be UV i just got the setup with it from craigslist...im going tomorrow to buy a UV bulb for it.

The cage is huge and long and I dont have anything to put the cage on but the ground.

With substrate, the concern is accidental ingestion that could lead to impaction.
Being truly arboreal, these animals feel most comfortable as high up as they can get (why it's not a good plan to keep the cage on the floor).
Make sure there is no plastic or glass between the UVB tube and the chameleon ... Repti-sun 5.0 linear tube is the best light available and extremely important for his growth and bone density.
You'll get lots of great help and advice here.
Chameleons are different from any other reptiles you may have owned, and require some very different care.

Its just above his eye bis eye looks/functions just fine... guess ill be taking him to the vet.

I appreciate all those tidbits...can you read the measurements for the mesh cage and tell me if that will be big enough for him?
 
I know the enclosure (I have a few of those) and it's exactly what I would use for a young veiled. Once he starts to get a bit crowded in there though, you will need to upgrade.
I have my biggest male in a 24x24x48 screen enclosure.

So put him in the mesh cage, raise the cage up off the ground...take out the substrate and just put what like paper towels on the bottom? make sure the bulb is not being stopped by plastic...etc?
 
^^Correct, I have the top of my cage at around 7 feet. Also that waterfall is a big no-no, it can easily become a huge breeding ground for bacteria which in turn can affect your cham. A properly placed dripper can do the trick for watering, as well as the daily mistings. Good luck!
 
Other than his enclosure not being correct I do believe you are referring to the "veil" on top of a veiled chameleon's head. Please check the pictures on my area (click on my name) and you will see my collection of veileds under the album section. Male veiled's will get a nice big one while the females generally have a little smaller one. You can tell a male by the spurs on the back of his hind legs down by the foot.
