2 in 1 Bulbs

I've recently been hearing of these new bulbs that produce heat and UVB at the same time. I've found that they're fairly expensive but apparently work well and last for quite a while.

Does anybody here know about these or have any experience with them. If I can find some online I'll post some links later on.

I've believe that all of these are the Mercury Vapor bulbs! Here's some links!

i almost got one. they are supposed to be great but they produce alot of heat, you will need to mount it a good distance up off the top of your enclosure... i was going to need it like 1-3 feet up off the top of my habitat so i went with somethin easier to mount

I was wondering about the amount of UV these bulbs produce as well. Especially with the link I've found on this forum regarding the UV burning to some of the reptiles. I wonder if they include SAFE distances from the bulbs for our chams??

i have a powersun UV and my veiled seems to love it. its about 12-14 inches from the top of his enclosure and my cham is healthy, eating, drinking and growing like a weed so i would have to say that the results are great so far...

Which wattage bulb do you use? I believe they have 100W and 160W bubls. Also ... what size / type of enclosure is it being used on?

Thanks ... Dyesub Dave. :D

i have the 100w variety. 160w seems pretty powerful and i reach my desired temps fine with 100w

How big is the enclosure that you're using it on? Is it an all mesh/screen cage? Just wondering because I would be getting one for a 175 gal. reptarium.

My herp vet who once bred veileds, swore by the mercury vapors. I think they last longer than regular uvb bulbs, plus most of them also give off uva as well, not sure if that's required or what.

Mines in the mail.

well its about 4' tall and 2.5' wide and deep. he is also next to a window that receives a lot of sun light so the ambient temp in the i don't have to worry about too much
