I will for sure! It was hard not to do a whole photoshoot haha.
Oh and his tail still has a piece of vermiculite on it, that's why it looks kind of funny.
Now if mommy would only lay her 2nd clutch I can relax for a while.
Well we're just over 6.5 months and the first egg has hatched! Pipped on Saturday and by yesterday afternoon we were able to move him into his new home! (him or her lol)
I've only got one pic to post so far, we wanted to give the little one time to get settled in
Waterfalls are generally not recommended for chameleons. While they do look nice, they tend to accumulate bacteria which would be bad for their health.
We've actually just purchased one of those recently as our other incubator has 6.5 month old eggs in it and our female is getting ready to lay her second clutch.
Have you started using it yet? We've plugged ours in to monitor the temperature spikes and see how well it does at lowering them.
I've never heard of that before. To my knowledge, the general rule is to provide a 12hr on and 12hr off light cycle. I wouldn't worry much about the UVB 'burning' the eyes of your chameleon.
As kinyonga said, there have been reported issues with the compact bulbs but none with the linear tubes.
Please fill out this form How to Ask for Help so we can have enough information to provide an adequate opinion about what may be going on with the little guy.
How far do you think he could have fallen? I think regardless of what the issue might be it's a good idea to go to the vet asap.
Definitely looks like an Ambilobe to me but I'm no expert. Sometimes the Y and U bars won't be perfectly formed so it can be difficult to tell.
Whatever he is, he's gorgeous!
As bigcappa said, definitely spend the money for the mistking. They're fantastic and if you ever want to get more chameleons (which you probably will lol) you can add more nozzles. Live plants will help with the humidity for sure, just make sure they're 'safe' plants as some veiled's will eat...
Most people don't use substrate. It can cause impaction if the cham ingests too much of it. A bare floor is a lot better for the cham and way easier to clean.
How old is your cham? Have you filled out the Help form?
Do some research on the type of cage you're buying and read reviews to find out about durability and rust problems.
There are places you can order food from if the only thing locally available to you is crickets. It's a good idea to check if they'll deliver to you before purchasing your...
We usually buy boxes of 500 at a time. We have 2 chameleons, a frog and a green anole that we feed crickets to so it's good to have a supply.
We also buy silks, superworms and butter/wax worms on occasion.
