I would guess it depends on the chameleon you have. I only have 2 panthers and I have been told high 60's-low 70's would be the coldest to put them out, and then only if it's an adult. From what I understand, and I probably am wrong, but Jackson and similar species are from mountainous areas...

Where are you located in KY? This Sunday there is a reptile expo in Clarksville IN (across the bridge from Louisville) and there is a lady that breeds veiled chameleons and sells the babies there.

Why a southern exposure? The back of my house faces west.

I just drilled a hole in the middle of the cage and through the shelf that the cage is on and put a container under it. Works well
