Lets get everyone up to speed...
Clutch Laid on April 25, 2015 (20 Eggs)
Closet Incubated and hatched at about 5 1/2 months
Hatched on Oct 18, 2015(18 Hatched, 1 went bad a week or so into incubating, and 1 did not hatch for whatever reason)
As of today, 9 of the 18 are alive...
Just a quick update...
I have 9 of the 18 babies left and they have all shed at least once (some twice) and they are eating bigger/more bugs than before but are SLOWLY growing. 3 of the 9 are double in size compared to the rest of them. At 4 months old they still look like half their age but...
Pics coming soon. Yeah it seems odd to me too but thats the only change I've made. I have them on backup just in case something happened to our other bulbs but they were fairly new. I think i bought them back in Aug/Sept so they are still short of the 6 month mark.
7 of the remaining 10 have shed and 3 of them have almost doubled in size. Ive been able to up their food intake and they have their appetites back. Its crazy to think how changing coil bulbs to a linear bulb has led to such a huge turn around. Ill update once or twice a week and let everyone...
Yes the patches on the 2 that have shed are now gone. Its almost like its taken them a month or 2 to shed and since I've changed the UVB light, they started shedding. Its so strange.
MissLissa and JGuinan007 and everyone else following this thread,
Since my last update, I'm at 11 of the 18 babies. Ive swapped out the coil bulbs for a linear UVB. Their appetites have been better and they seem a little more active. Temps and Humidity levels are still the same so it has to...
I was doing every feeding but changed it to every few days when i noticed things weren't right.
Thank you for the info and that software you're working on sounds great!
Thanks KingKush and JGuinan007
I did notice that the neck area on some of the babies seems swollen or larger than normal.
They tend to sleep in the middle to upper portion of the cage. I have a temp gauge on the outside of the cage and the house temps are usually around 70-75. The gauge...
Thanks for doing research as well JPowell86. I do, i feel terrible. I feel im doing everything right but its just not enough. I have a 2nd clutch from this female and they are at the same time frame where these babies hatched and i still dont see anything inside the eggs so the 2nd clutch seems...
I have 10 of the 18 left. Woke up this morning and there were 11 active babies and by lunch time i was at 10. Im losing 1 or 2 every week. Still eating, still pooping, active one minute, dead the next. Im so confused.
My apologies Kinyonga, all of the babies seem to have this coloration on their heads...the live and dead ones. When i spray the enclosure to give them water, this color goes away. Its almost like dry skin but they aren't shedding.
Thanks everyone for the help! Yes they are coil bulbs so i will change that ASAP. Could the underdevelopment be permanent? If i was to change the bulbs would it hopefully fix this problem or has the damage been done? Obviously the eye issues if there are any, cant be fixed but hopefully the...
Its been almost 3 months now since we had a clutch of 18 babies hatch. All 18 hatched and it was this particular females 1st time laying. The first month was fine and everything seemed great. Fast forward to almost 3 months and we have lost 6 of the 18 babies in the last 2-3 weeks and they don't...
I have 18 little panthers that are almost 2 months old. Ive been feeding them fruit flies but recently upgraded to pinheads and some are eating 2 week old crickets. My questions are...
1. Ive heard mixed things about when and how to give them supplements. Should i stay on the schedule of daily...
Sorry. Yes they were all laid at the same time, covered, and then 3 months later she laid clutch #2, all in the same hole, and covered them.
Ive been using Exo Terra's Calcium, Calcium +D3, and Multi Vitamin. Calcium every day, D3 every other Sunday, and Multi Vitamin Every other Sunday.
Thank you for all your help. Never had any issues with our males and learning so much more about them as well as our new female also. Sensitive little creatures to keep but i love them!!
