RIP my sweet little girl. She passed away today in my hands. It appeared to be a very peaceful passing. She will get a burial at sea later in the month. I miss her already.:(
Not what I wanted to come home to, but definitely a prolapse. A HUGE prolapse.
She is with eggs and I've been waiting for her to lay, which she hasn't. After I found her in the prolapsed condition, I leapt into action.
I have done the sugar soak and I don't have KY, but lubed it...
You don't want to put it on the flies. That's messy. I keep my flies in a net cage and drizzle honey on the mesh lightly. The flies will lap it up and then you feed the flies to your critters.
Is the "bump" on or under the skin? Sometimes ribs get broken and they heel with nodules that can be seen and felt below the skin. If you had a photo, it might help. We don't know what we're "looking" at.:D
I keep mantids and raise my own flies. I hatch a lot at once and keep them in a net cage. I drizzle honey and spritz them once in a while, but not at the same time, as the honey will thin out and drip. I believe the net cage gives them more room to fly and bulk up the wing muscles. Flies are...
Who's bigger? Mrs. Bigger or Mrs. Bigger's baby?
The baby...Because the baby is a "little" Bigger.:D
Just a funny/lame joke I remember from my robot friend growing up named 2-XL.:D
Do these look dehydrated?
I mist them at least 3 times a day. I'm thinking those might be the "first poops" and they weren't drinking too much at the time.
That will probably require stitches or some other way to close it up. That is a bad injury in a very delicate area and would definitely require a vet visit. Good luck with it.
Try ebay and also take a look at the classifieds here. You can get some really cheap sometimes if someone needs to thin their colony. You can also place a wanted ad. There's always craigslist, too.
I pass a recovery house that puts out stuff that they can't use for the neighborhood to take. This is what I came home with today. I can't believe how much donated food they have to give away because they can't use it all. I definitely don't mind and my roaches aren't too choosy about...
My babies are doing well. It looks like the final count is at 43. I was wondering about their poop. The poops are tiny and appear to show signs of dehydration with the orange in the urates. Is this normal coloring or are they not getting enough water? I have never had babies, so I don't know...
I was thinking that and commented on it to my dad just the other day. I said if someone opened our refrigerator and saw all those fruits and vegetables, they'd think we were really healthy, only it's NOT for us.:D
They are just added randomly within a rotation of feeders, depending on what I have most plentiful and what they will eat that day.:D They are fickle feeders.
