Yes, still way too hot. Mine is 7 months and his basking spot never goes over 85. In a few months I'll raise it a little.
Here is Jannb's blog on raising veileds. Lots of great info.
"You probably will not need a basking light right at first if he's young.....under 4 months old. He'll be so...
I'm not sure about the sleeping, maybe he was just there when the light turned off and fell asleep?
What kind of chameleon and how old? Because I think 98 for a basking spot is wayyyyy too hot, especially if it's a baby like what it looks like in your avatar.
Edit- Oh duh, it's a veiled. lol...
Chams are ONLY supposed to see each other if you intend to breed them and have babies. Just because there is no sign of stress right now doesnt mean that it's not building up. My cham used to let me hold him all the time, no stress colors, then one day he flipped out on me and I havent been able...
I totally understand the reasoning for the lizards. It just popped into my head that a couple times before, a long time ago, I remember hearing commercials advising people to put sunscreen on their hands while driving, and thought "This doesn't match up..."
If we warn everyone about not setting up uvb lights to go through glass because it blocks all the uvb, why are people advised to wear sunscreen in the car because of uvb getting through the windshield and possibly giving sunburn?
I would listen to Jann about the feeding amount, she is a Veiled expert and has some of the most healthy looking and beautiful Veileds I have seen, and successfully bred them. I have read that feeding females too much can cause them to lay more often and have bigger clutches, which in turn...
I dont see that happening. Are they going to ban the herbal tea too? How about perfume? And glue, and maybe even Sharpies...
It totally sucks this happened, but the government can't take everything away that we can hurt ourselves with, or we would be left with nothing, and this would not be...
Pure is one thing. However, that's not always the case, especially with X. Unless you get it from someone you trust who makes it themselves, you can't be sure what's in it.
If it's dim/across the room he may sleep. My cham stays sleeping when I turn a reading light on, much brighter than those lights, but this is after he's already fallen asleep in complete dark. If it can't get to sleep, some kind of drape could work.
I have had my cham since a little before November and still have not seen him drink. My boyfriend did though
Make sure your bowl for catching water is not too deep, or at least shallow enough that your cham can climb out if he gets/falls into it. I have heard they drown easily.
What I want to know is why the person who actually received the notices in the mail didn't contact the hospital and say "Hey, I don't have cancer... wrong person". They had to have gone to someone or the mail would have returned the letters to the hospital because of an invalid address.
Chameleons are not supposed to nap during the day. What do you mean he "favors" one eye over the other? As in closes one or just moves one more than the other?
Also, use the multivitamin only once or twice a month, calcium with D3 twice a month, and regular calcium without D3 for the rest of the...
I would be pissed. I was mad when my mom's husband built a wall through my room to create a hallway leaving me with barely any room to even turn my bed in a different direction. What happened to my space???
