1.) Have always used the same lighting, reptisun 5.0 UVB linear tubes, and a combination of a heat basking bulb or 100W incandescents depending on summer/winter seasons.
2.) The vitamins are Rep-Cal, herptavite, calcium, and calcium w/ D3. I will look into buying reptivite. Are the others...
Milton “the Monster: is a 3 yr 4 month old male panther chameleon. His right eye is completely black, you can't see the iris. He can see out of it and track movements and everything I just think it agitates him if he uses it too much. Look at the attached pictures!!!
His eye had problems...
Thanks for the response Elizadots, yes he can hunt fine with it and see out of it too, can track objects and look at things normally. The other day he was blinking it (strange though could see the inner part of hie eyelid like he was rolling the eye back). Sometimes it looks sunken in too, I...
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?

Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
I handle him fairly often, he likes to come out of his cage and go on the...
Hey everybody, my main question is do chams adjust their eating habits in winter and eat smaller amounts of food? I've just adjusted his lighting about 1- 1 1/2 weeks ago to a 7:00 am - 6:00 pm cycle.
I've been noticing my chameleon has been eating less the last week or so. Usually fed...
I would really like to free range him, especially since he is such an explorer. However friendly he is though I don't he and my ferret would get along (even though my ferret is the most docile and friendly guy!) Anyways not chancing that!
His cage is elevated off of the ground 3 ft. and has a screen bottom so there is constant drainage and no water pooling. Humidifier below so humidity is 60 - 70%. He has plenty areas to climb but I'm gonna clean it this weekend. I was told pothos is ok but I really think I need to trim it...
I've noticed recently that my cham wants to come out of his cage more and more every time I open the front door and feed him. Sometimes he will eat and then do this, or just want to come out first.
Does anyone have any ideas about this new behavior?
Ok, thought it might be too dark at the bottom. Have a pothos, hibiscus and ficus. 1-2 basking bulbs (60 watt and 40 watt depends on temps), 5.0 reptisun and a grow lamp (switch to cool white?), dripper, and a digital temp/humidity gauge.

Hey everybody, I was just looking for any suggestions on my enclosure for my guy. Let me know if you have anything. Main question is should I trim back the pothos?
Humidity around 60-70% constant, drainage through drilled hole in plant water catcher, about 3 ft off ground
That is awesome Summoner! I can't wait tell I can get more chams and make a free range. I'm in college although with limited space and still with my first cham, but hes doing great!
Thanks, that info helps out a lot and I'm glad it's relatively inexpensive. A T8 Reptisun 5.0 and a regular fluorescent wouldn't be too much light would it? or stick to just Reptisun 5.0?
Alright, I'm having a hard time finding a T8 light fixture online, anyone have any suggestions? Replaced my T12 and got shipped T8s and they keep flickering in my current fixture. Sucks that Reptisun isn't making T12 anymore. Is it easier to just get a new ballast?
I adjust the light every morning, it's such a hassle but I make sure that it isn't fluttering when I leave because when it is he will look at it like 'what the hell is going on?'
I don't see any visible scratches/deformities on the eye, and there isn't much in the cage except for an added...
Light
Linear tube Reptisun 5.0 24 inches and 60 watt houseshold basking bulb. Having trouble with new t8 bulb I got keeps fluttering on and off (used to have t12) but I think its the fixture
Recently my panther, Razzy, has been tenative about opening his right eye sometimes. At periods when he is sitting or basking he might just have his left eye open. There is no sunken eye or dehydration and he is active and free ranges when eating. Just starting to become a lil worried after...
