I cannot recommend any suggestions except for one:
You have a light on for your cham all night? Chameleons require complete darkness to get the most out of their sleep. Any kind of light, no matter how dim the bulb is, will likely bother them while they are sleeping. Therefore your cham...
I just sprinkle it on fresh fruits and veggies for my crickets :) I also put it in some water and drink it. My husband found out the hard way that you should never take spirulina powder and put a spoonful in your mouth, trying to swallow it :D (My father and I told him not to do it, but what do...
If you want to go on the safe side, a screen terrarium with plastic-wrap along some of the walls (2-3) is what I use for my veiled. It works well :)
If you want a glass terrarium (I use one for my ellioti) then it will need the top screen and bottom ventilation as well. There's even some...
The backdrop is fine. The reason why your chameleon is climbing up there is because they love being high up. What you lack is lots of foliage that (Almost) reaches the top of the enclosure. You should also get some higher vines around the plants, going from left to right so he can roam around...
I am using ExoTerra brands of supplements (Calcium, Calcum+D3 and Multi Vitamin) and was wondering, are they any good? They were the only thing available for me at first, as I had no idea where to get any things for my chams, but I'd like to provide them wit something better, if these are no...
Thanks everyone! :D I'm going to be collecting some poop samples over the weekend to bring in for more tests on Monday (Our locally local vet won't see chameleons, as they don't feel comfortable enough working with them. They do lizards, but chameleons are too exotic :) They had a look at her...
Here's a couple pictures of how well Yuki is doing! She's doing awesome since we picked her up. She looks like a completely different chameleon now! I am so proud of her :) She has such a will to live! (She's also hissing a bit less. She only opened her mouth once when I misted her. Normally she...
Is this something one can "expect" from a male chameleon? Or do I not have to worry about being "shocked" or having my husband come running at me telling me that Marimo is "bleeding from his butt" or something... (That is so something he would do. He's more panicky than I am. When he panics, I...
*Takes a chameleon in hands and licks it* Hmm.. tastes like veiled!
The information oh how to gender has been good thus far. Despite having had not much to do with chameleons until recently, I feel I have learned a lot :) I'm not exactly the best, or even very great at it, but I feel I am...
Just wanted to poke this thread up a bit :D
I wanted to mention that my husband and I will be going to Hamm next month, so if anyone has Elliotis and will be in Hamm... :D
Fruit flies are a bit small for a 3 month old veiled though, aren't they? Probably depends on how small the animal actually is... but if you're going flies, might as well be the regular ones. They have a bit more on them. The blue bottle flies are fun to watch, annoying if they get out though...
I feed little Yuki flies, but I'm not sure I would necessarily recommend them. She refuses to eat her crickets now, and is not fussed about worms. She loves the flies though.... Maybe every now and again as a treat? They're hard to gut load, which is why they're not good as a staple :)
I'd reply a bit longer, but I am busy doing a bunch of things at the moment. I just wanted to point out: You should have multiple hibiscus to rotate them every now and then. Hibiscus needs a lot of natural sunlight, and the UVB bulb won't cut it. That's why people who have hibiscus usually have...
I bet he's looking at that red car outside and thinking "Man, that dude stole my paintjob!" ;)
He's got really lovely colours, he shouldn't be comparing himself to the car in the background that is so obviously less brilliant! :D
Right now, reading the forums daily is enough :) I did my research far earlier (At least in regards to keeping young) as I was scared Marimo would still be a "baby" when I got him. The only one I will need to read up more on is veiled, but since so many here have them, I soak in information from...
1. What are you waiting for?
Firstly: Marimo needs to find himself the right girl. We're going to Hamm this year, and I'm hoping I can find him "the love of his life"!
Secondly: Yuki needs to get healthier. She's well on her way already, and we plan to eventually find her a boyfriend. That...
No problem :) I'm no expert in gendering.. but I do try my best. I'm sure some others will eventually reply either confirming or contradicting! :D
Just because the tail is different, doesn't necessarily mean that they're different genders. It all depends on how the differences are :)
They both look male to me, but I am no expert. I don't know what species they are, nor how old they are.
Do you think you could get a better picture of the tailbases? Best would be from the side with the tail straight. That was we can see if there's a "bulge" or not. Bulges indicate males :)...
When I rescued Yuki from the pet store, I made sure that the employees/manager were willing to learn about chameleon care. I took her in to provide a solitary life, away from the larger, bullying chameleons (They didn't have more room to put her alone, which is what she needed). Instead of the...
