The beginning stages of Bear's outdoor tort playground. The back corner is a mustard green and romaine snack garden . The area is 12x4.5, the stump is a hide area and there is also a tort house. I want to add more plants and climbing features.
Your avatar is a veiled cham. Veileds don't have the explosive shed of a panther cham. They shed more gradually. Your guy is probably shedding normal for a veiled.
I would focus on veiled and panther chameleons. Panthers love Florida weather! I kept panthers in an outdoor enclosure for 3 out of 4 seasons in North Florida. South Florida you could do year round.
I lost one of my silkies yesterday to what I now know is referred to as "pasty butt". You think if you can keep chameleons healthy enough to die of old age a chicken is nothing. Not so, I am a complete newbie. I am really torn up about it- all I had to do is soak the sucker in warm water and...
I would check with your vet to see if any of the vet techs would be willing to pet sit for a little extra cash. If you have a vet with reptile experience, the techs will be familiar with them as well. Some vets are even willing to board exotics.
That eye definitely needs some TLC, he may have something in the eye that has infected it. Personally, I'd go to the vet on that one, but if you want to try something at home first, I would use plain saline solution (you get it in the contact lens aisle at the drug store). You'll have to pick...
I did have an "aha" moment with my 3 year old when I served chicken last night... She gave me the stink eye and said "Mom, we don't eat chickens. They're friends!" I really hate tofu so I am hoping we can get over this. :)
Your basking temps are a little low, I keep my male panther's basking at 85-90. I am thinking parasites though. Lethargy, digestive issues, all that is symptomatic of a heavy parasite load. I would take him to the vet. My guys always poop on the way to the vet- apparently it scares the...
They are all different, my guy is smaller- he has never weighed more than 160g. He is perfectly healthy at 3.5 years. Look for weight loss and changes in your individual cham more so than how he compares to others. Your boy is beautiful!!
