From what you described and how she looks, I kinda figured they recently got her. If her care keeps up as is, you're right, she won't last very long. At least the time between now and when they got her explains why the lady didn't know they had a chameleon. If she looks like a branch, well, she...
I am by all means no expert on jacksons, but here's what I think just by looking at her:
- Her eyes don't seem sunken, at least not from the pictures.
- Her ribs aren't showing
- Her claws seem to be alright
- Her skin shows no sign of sores, but it's hard to see with her colour I think...
I haven't had any flies yet, but it seems through feeding and having them for a long time, they will eventually turn into flies! I think the turn at a certain size, but I am no expert on these wrigglers.
The second recent picture looks really crazy somehow! (I swear it's the angle. Makes his face look reaaaaally long) She looks like a handful too!
Lovely chameleons though :D Looking forward to seeing more pictures :)
I know that Marimo will LOVE them when they fly around... do they lose a lot of calcium though? Some of them are getting really fat (The load of them were "drilling" into a cucumber and a bunch of blueberries yesterday) and I think they will likely transform in the near future already. I will...
The brown one looks like the typical "brown cricket" we get here :D The other one beside it looks like what we'd call a "house cricket" :D I have no idea what is considered unusual or strange in the Americas, but I don't think it has any black in it! ;)
Either way, don't kill the poor...
That looks like some of my crickets :) I believe the "mean black kind" are these ones: http://http://easyinsects.co.uk/livefood/images/black-cricket-juv.jpg
They're literally all black! When i had anoles YEARS ago, they used to be scared of them. This was before I had any idea that I should...
Haha, yeah, it's funny how their mood changes :D I haven't really noticed anything in Marimo actually.. he's always fairly.. well.. how he usually is! Yuki just one day gave me the death-glare and now hisses at me when I clean/feed/mist :(
He looks really pretty with his skin shed :D You'll...
Out of curiosity, how does this prevent them from climbing exactly? I have the same problem with Marimo climbing upside down the whole time and am considering doing the same thing. But I would just like to know why it works :)
They should be similar, yes :) I have never owned a jacksons, however, so I will not be as bold as to say for certain! I only know how to care for my Ellioti and am learning how to care for my evil Veiled. Glad to be of some help :D Not ever day I can actually answer someone with certainty :o...
If you can get your chams to eat them, most definitely! :D My chams have been turning their faces up at the worms, but I won't stop trying...! (They're hooked on flies...)
Finally something I can properly help with :D
Supplements really depend on the gutloading of the food and other factors. Marimo is on the same as most every chameleon on here: Calcium daily, Calcium with D3 and Multi-Vit every 2 weeks. (I do Calcium with D3 every second Saturday, while doing...
I don't have a care sheet, because for these types of chameleons, there's not too many. I will try and find the links I used when I first started taking care of Marimo.
My Blue chameleon (T. Ellioti) never has his terrarium above an ambient temperature of 23°C. That would be around 73°F. His...
Since you've only had your chameleon 4 days, I'd say you might have to wait a while ;) Chances are it either JUST shed, or recently at least. Marimo first shed around 20 days after I got him, and it's been almost a month since his first shed with us. He's 4 months old. Yuki has been in our care...
I use a device similar to this at home for my crickets: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31yzc0nLy7L._SL500_AA300_.jpg
On the sides there are two tubes that the crickets love to run up and hide in. To feed, you just take one of the tubes, tap it a bit so some "loose" crickets fall out...
