I bought my chameleon about 4 days ago and from what ive researched, they shed very often but have yet to see it, i know when it starts to scratch branches and leaves is when it starts but i have not seen any dead skin start to peel or flake. could there be something wrong? or just give it time.

Since you've only had your chameleon 4 days, I'd say you might have to wait a while ;) Chances are it either JUST shed, or recently at least. Marimo first shed around 20 days after I got him, and it's been almost a month since his first shed with us. He's 4 months old. Yuki has been in our care for almost 2 weeks, and she has yet to shed as well. Depending on the age of the chameleon, they will shed more frequently for sure. But more frequently for chameleons means roughly every month, can be a couple of days sooner or later, but the "regular" seems to be around each month! Again, this is depending on how old your chameleon is. Just give him/her some time and before you know it, (s)he will be shedding! :D

::EDIT::
Another factor along with age is how much they eat and thus grow... if (s)he isn't eating much, then (s)he may, and probably will, grow slower.

Scratching could be due to a number of reasons, something stuck in the eye, plants irritating their eyes from pesticides or the plant could be toxic, could be a vitamin a deficiency. I would recommend posting a picture of your setup and the chameleon. :)

It was a month after we got Picasso before we saw him shed and now after 4 months of owning him he is on his 3rd shed.....give it time.
