So Angel is being a little angel and knows that theres no door on her cage, she behaves like a good little girl and stays in! Ringo on the other hand noticed that "OMG there's no door escape time!" and ended up almost inside Angels cage!

We've been away at a splash park so my son could enjoy the water. Came home to find Ringo in between the screen and the shower curtain on Angels cage. Now we cant get him down off the blinds and Angel keeps chasing after him.

Anyone have any suggestions on getting him down and to stay in his cage til June 1st?

Well he did decide to show off some colors! Probably saying to himself "HAHA MOM YOU CANT GET ME!!!"

I don't know if it's considered an "escape artitst" if there's no door. :p
Would a plastic bag held up in place of a door be enough to at least discourage him from trying?

Lol very true... I had to take his cage off the table to get him. Well when I got him he ran up my arm and into my hair. I asked my husband to get him down which ended up being a bad ideal. Ringo puffed up at him and bite him but as soon as he was back on my hand he kinda calmed down... I just finished putting everything back in his cage and he was watching me the whole time.

Angel being the little angel that she is sat on her branch and watched me as well. Pretty sure she thoughts she was getting food.

I would highly recommend you get a door before (if he hasn't already) mates with your female? How old is she? Are they related?

They're about a month apart... He's 5 months, she's 6 months. I'll have wait till June 1st to finish the cage. Had planned on it this weekend but spend the 'cage' money on food since we ran out.

They are WAY to young to mate but still will if you leave them together and it's very bad health wise for a female to produce and lay egg when she's still young because the eggs drain the calcium from her body. I'd get some kind of a door now or put him in a seperate room and keep the door closed at all times. Are they related?

No they aren't. They been separated since we got them. Just their cages are side by side with a 2x4 piece of plywood between the 2 cages. I put a sheet on the front of his cage hoping that will help

Well 2 days later after Ringo being a good boy, my husband found him in Angels cage. He didnt want to leave her cage so we moved her into his cage. She seems to be extremely sweet today and extremely colorful. If hes going to stay in her cage though I'm going to need to take out her laying bin and reconstruct his cage.

she needs a laying bin so I would not remove it. Also, it might be ok now with him being 5 months old(I still would not do it) but that is not going to work in the months to come. You are going to cause alot of stress on her when he wants to mate. She may be colorful cause she is showing the male she is receptive. Are you looking for babies in the future?

Hes in her cage and shes in his cage. As soon as I got back home last night after my husband called I moved her since I know she'll let me move her with no issues. I plan on breeding once they are old enough and we're settled into a new house... I really wasnt expecting him to leave his cage.

They always do leave their cage to find a mate. You really have to be prepared for this. Even if you plan to mate one day, you should try to control the timing. Male and female in a free range condition can be dangerous.

We had our male and female separated in two rooms quite apart. The moment he was 6 mo old, he wondered off the house to find her (he was very sweet so we let him go while she was a stressed out one, rescued at older age from some tough past, and better stayed in her cage).

Even they never mated, she died while digging inside the laying bin. We did not know her history too well, but suspect that age and previous wrong husbandry took its toll.

how are you going to stop them from breeding until "they are old enough" if you are housing them together???

She has two cages from what it sounds like guys. The males cage doesn't have a door. And from what ur saying the females cage does. If your female will stay in like u said then I would have done exactly what u did if I really couldn't get a door. I would put the male into the females cage so he is locked up since he is prob more interested in runnin around than her. Then put the female in the unfinished cage.

The way I read it is neither cage has a door.

Koko, you need to rig at least a door for her cage to keep him out. Ideally you would should rig 2 doors. Not knowing what the rest of the cage is made of, it's hard to make suggestions. Foam core type poster board or coroplast might be a good place to start. If there's metal, you might be able to use magnets to hold it in place. That would make it easy to remove when you needed to feed/water/etc. Or maybe you can tape it in place with masking tape...that way you could remove it when needed, replace the tape if it gets worn.
