a single 40w bulb left on 12 hours a day everyday only costs about 2-3 bucks a month. switching out to a lower wattage bulb will save a a little, but you arent paying a lot to begin with. if you have 40 40watt bulbs it would be a different story.
Do veiled chameleons get more colorful as they grow? When I first got Steve, he pretty much stayed a very nice shade of lime green. well, except when I was misting the cage. then he would turn a deep brown and hide.
Today, he ate about a half dozen crickets, drank some water and started...
I know, very very bad pictures. I am using my roomates camera, and it sucks. but at least you can see my new veiled. I know he isnt much yet. He will grow up healthy and strong though. I know it. Oh, and the cage he lives in.
Hes trying to desicde which cricket to eat first

I am trying to find a plant that will fit in the cage. I printed out a list of plants that are ok for chameleons, and plan to take that to the nursery tomorrow.
Ok, I will list everything I have. Then you can tell me what I am doing wrong. :)

I am going back to the tupperware drip and hand mist methos for the time being. I see what you mean. if I could have gotten the habba mist up to 15 minutes of spraying it would have been perfect. ah well, it was free after all.
A guy in my apartment complex gave me a mister today. he used it to spray a lizard tank he used to have. will it work for my chameleon? It is called a habba mist automatic mister. theres a few problems with it that I see though. it only lets me mist in intervals of 1,3,6 and 12 hours. which...
Update: (this may be a long post)
I sat and had a very long talk with the guy I bought the chameleon from. none of his still in the store show any signs of illness. we concluded that the first day she was in my place, I had yet to turn the A/C up. it was still cooling things down to 70...
The UV light went off about twenty minutes ago. she seemes to have settled down. she got herslef on a nice long branch, curled up, and seems to be sleeping. she hasnt wheezed in about a half hour. though, when she was awake, she only seemed to be opening one eye. though if she opened the other...
