Carol5208, Yes that is what I meant. I didn't say to cut back on supplementing it was suggested that I may be over dusting at the feedings and it could be just getting inhaled or stuck around the nostrils. And yes it was also said to possibly be salts/minerals if not the calcium sticking to the...
We got our first Veiled about 3 months ago and the same thing happened. Some of this forum's fine folks advised the same thing. One said try a warm shower for 'her' (no spurs on back legs IS a female) and others said to cut back on the amount of calcium used to dust. I did both and never had a...
Dude, I'm so sorry about Esme. Just now saw this thread! Word of mouth can do more against a poor business than just about anything else. Keep spreading the word of what happened and see how long the practice stays open!
At least here locally it is nearly impossible to find calcium only dusting powder. I've been working with one pet shop for three weeks trying to get plain calcium powder. Friday they had every dusting powder there was EXCEPT just plain calcium. I told them to send them all back! Finally I had to...
What an adorable little guy. Do you have to use glass? We keep some geckos in a glass terrarium but our chamy lives in a screen cage. We've had ours do the same thing but just kept same basic care, switching out feeders, increased watering and such. She's come around after a couple of days and...
Brock, just to jump in here, very interesting results. How much weight has he gained...over what period of feeding the new pro-biotic? It took about 4-5 weeks to get in this pickle so I wondered how long it took to reverse the problem. Thanks.
Sound like you've done everything correctly. I make sure that our chamy can't get into the drainage bowl by using one that fits tightly around the base of the pot. Or if it drains out the bottom of your cage, you are ready to rehome your jade plant. FL Chams is the bible to me.
I love the work you have done. Just one thought. Why don't you lay screen over (outside) the hardware wire and place the crickets in there? I built my own cage and put screen wire outside the hardware wire. Never have a cricket problem. Or you could just pull the back legs off like everyone...
Everyone here is giving you fantastic advice. Please believe what they tell you, they know! We are pretty new also. Ours is about 6 mos old and we have her in a round 19" x 24" that I built. It is just now appearing that she would like more room so I am building a new 24X24X36". We hang ours'...
Beautiful guy! Or should I say Handsome? Our first veiled was estimated to be about 4 months when we brought her home and she was about 6" tip-to-tip. She's about 10 1/2" now at around 6 months. He looks about right from our perspective. Love the nails too!!
Hi Memmyme, We've only had our veiled for two months. Shortly after she came home to us I noticed her doing something similar to what you describe. She would stand on two legs and shake all the while rubbing one other foot on anything. She didn't eat for a few days and had trouble climbing...
You are very correct there, mickeyratfink. Being a relative newbie here, myself, it would make me think about asking a question, for sure! Yes, there is a search function. Have you tried to use if lately? The returns are overwhelming and daunting. I have and it just seems to lead on and on and...
