Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled Chameleon, Female, 5 Months. She has been with me now for 14 days.
Handling - Twice a day currently to give meds.
Feeding - I have some small crickets and freshly shed mealworms. She is not interested in eating at the moment since she has been having antibiotics.
Today she received 50ml in the morning and 75ml in the afternoon of juice that I made from some red capsicum, carrot, apple and cucumber.
Supplements - She is not receiving normal supplements as she is on a vitamin supplement from the vet (1 drop daily). This was the instruction given by the vet.
Watering – I am using a drip bottle which she likes to drink from but has not really had the strength for lately. I mist 3-4 times a day for 30-45secs. She receives saline twice a day sub-cutaneously.
Fecal Description – none in the last 3 days as she hasn't eaten. hoping she will pass something tomorrow.
History – Previous to receiving her I have no history. She went to the vet on Tuesday and was told she was malnourished (42g), dehydrated and had a respiratory infection. She is on Baytrill, Saline, Zocal-D and one for helping stimulate her digestive tract (I can't remember the name).
Cage Info:
Cage Type – Penelope’s house is 45cm³. It has a glass floor and walls with 4 side ventilation points and a mesh lid.
Lighting – I have a ceramic lamp with the black cover, which has a 50w Reptile One Basking Lamp in it and one Reptisun 5.0 UVB lamp which is on from around 7am until roughly 8pm-9pm. I have a 50w infrared for night time to keep up the temps until her health improves and she has the energy to cope with the cold again.
Temperature – I have placed the lamp at the back of the cage resting on the mesh above the highest vine in her cage. The vine would be about 35cm from the floor of the cage. At night I think the temp would be around 15-20ºC.
Humidity – I really can’t answer this question because I am not sure. I am creating humidity through misting and with potted plants. I have ordered a thermo/hygrometer.
Plants – She has a Pothos, Benjimina Ficus, and 2 Dracaenas.
Placement – She is in my room about a meter off the floor. The room has AC on all the time, but with winter coming I will be able to open the windows and let fresh air in the room. It is a low traffic area as it is my bedroom and she has the day to herself. The height from the floor to the top of her cage would be around 1.5-1.6m.
Location – Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Current Problem – I just wanted some advise on the mucus from the infection.. when I first took her to the vet, she had yellow crusty boogies in her nose, this has cleared now
she also had a brown mucus in her mouth that was coming out the sides toward the back of her mouth. This brown mucus has now cleared, but it seems she has some clear mucus in her mouth now?? I haven't touched it, but it looks kind of sticky? Does anyone know if this could mean she's fighting the infection and this is an improvement or if I should be concerned about the clear mucus.. I have not seen this in her mouth before.
Thanks
