Worming Chameleons

I've always heard that it was generally a good practice to worm Chams once a year. This sounds like a good idea, but i've personally never done it.

I'm wondering if there was anyway to do this without going to the vet for an expensive visit...?

If you don't go to a vet how will you know that you are using the right dewormer?? The same one won't kill all species of parasite. Also, why give him medicine he might not need?
