trying to set up another cham cage for my hopfully new green anb....any suggestions on a safe ive that will grow in the cage... usually i run a ficus for green.. but wanting a new look.

you mean a safe plant? What about an umbrella (aka, sheffelera, arboricola). Many people use Pothos too. They vine very nicely. Hibiscus are nice and they flower but they are kinda hard to grow indoors. I would say besides the ficus those three are the most common.

thanks.. i was thinking of the umbrella... my wife was wanting a vine that flowers.. just to add a little color.. i run plant light on all my indoor veg's... i might try a hibiscus... if its safe

I work at a brewery and I think it would be cool to have hop vines all over the walls of an enclosure. I love the smell of hops personally but am not sure if they are "safe"

The hibiscus have the beautiful big flowers but they really do better with natural sunlight. I have heard of people having two of them and they rotate them in and out of the cage for sunlight. Depending on how your cage is set up that could be a real pain if all your vines and branches are intertwined with the plant! But they are safe for sure. Veiled's even eat the flowers.

i have the cage right in front of my front window.. it does get natural sun light.. but not a ton.. just for a few hours as the sun rises... hhhmmm.. might go a diff route... thanks for the input..

Does UV light effect the plants too? We all know a cham that gets sunlight through windows isn't getting the UV they need but is it the same with plants? Do they need some unfilitered light as well. Speaking about the hibiscus.

not much of a plant guy.. man im running 3 diff uv lights.. heat lamps and plant spots... id hate to run more lighting.. ill just stick to good ol ficus and grape vine..

I'm a florist and well acquainted with house plants. I have a variegated (striped white and green) ficus plant and a variegated pothos in my panther's cage. Pothos are very hardy and grow quickly. You can get that vine effect very nicely with them.
I'll eagerly follow the progress of your new babies.
