Hello, I'm Daniel. I live in Florida and new to both chameleon keeping and the forums. I was wondering, how can I keep my chameleon happy during summer and winter? In summer do I take him out more? Winter do I have the heat on longer? I'm extremely confused on this matter. Please leave your feedback and thanks!

Daniel I live in Florida also. I need to know where you are housing your chameleon and how you are housing him. Are you using a glass or screen enclosure?. Seeing that we basically have "summer" year long you can take your chameleon out for natural sun. Do you know about uvb lighting and supplements?? What kind of chameleon do you have?. Different species have different temperature requirements. Please post a picture of your set up and your chameleon so we can make sure he is healthy and that you are providing a healthy habitat for him.

I don't have him yet, but I'm getting a veiled Cham jethro bloodline from FL chams. I'm ordering half of his set up this night or tomorrow. I still need to raise up money for the MistKing. I recently went to a AllPets Emporium and I had a talk with one of the employees. He said that all you need is a dripper because mister's stress/scares them out. And that you should keep a Cham in a terrarium because mesh screen cages keep the cage cold due to the AC. Is this true? I find this absurd and complete opposite to what I have read here. Probably not, because I saw some red flags. The UVB was a bulb, which causes eye problems. And the females had sinked in eyes.

I have a mister and it does not seem to stress my cham out. Screen cage is best. I have heard it is best because the cham needs ventilation and I have also read about studies saying that the chams reflection in the glass can also stress them out because they think it is another cham. I believe they fixed the eye problem with the compact fluorescent UVB bulbs. Sunken eyes usually means the cham is very dehydrated. Best not to take advise from a person whos own animals are in bad shape.
