Chameleons are affected by the colors we wear and the patterns on our clothes...shedding can make them grumpy, but they can also get that way when they are gravid. Males often pick up attitude when they reach sexual maturity. Each chameleon is an individual...just like all other animals including humans...and we just have to accept them for what they are generally.
That's what I thought, too, when I saw your question, dropanuke.
That you probably changed something about your appearance. New shirt? New glasses? New hairstyle?
Or, that you missed her, and were glad to see her, and so you approached her a little too quickly and too boldly perhaps, in your excitement to see her again and your desire to check her out to see how she was doing.
Remember, the veileds are a solitary species that like to command their own space. She spent the weekend alone, which would have been restful and natural for her. She is training you. This has happened to me. Sometimes they make us take a few steps back in our relationship with them and approach them slowly and meekly for a bit, in drag garb, to re-win their confidence and trust.
One way to regain the relationship is to win her over with special new feeder bugs or worms. Something big. (Kind of like bringing flowers and chocolates to mend a human relationship
