I was just looking at the care book I bought when I got my veiled, it claims to be a complete owner's manual, however, in attemping to cover all chameleon species, it sends out a lot of mixed messages.
It has details of how to set up an aquarium as a cage (by turning it on it's side)
It lists pinkie mice as a suitable food for panthers.
It states that UVB lighting is not absolutely necesary.
There's lots of info about housing chameleons together, which contradicts itself. Stating chameleons can be agressive, die of stress, compete for food etc when kept together, & then going on to say how 3 can be kept together.
It has a seperate sections for various types of chameleons, but doesn't state how their supplementation, temp & humidity requirements differ from other species.
Basically it tries to cover care of all chameleons from pygmys to panthers, in no particular order, & in a non-specific way.
I just think if you start your research by purchasing a book like this, thinking it would be a reliable resource, you're apt to make lots of mistakes.
