Ok so ive bred chams before, and i have these two veileds that have been so stubborn and tricky to breed. The female was showing non receptive colors for the longest time. About 2 or 3 weeks ago she finally let the male breed with her but i kept them together for a day and a half and she never showed gravid colors so i tried again about a week after they bred once again and about 15 minutes she turned almost black with yellow and turquise dots so im thinking finally, but put her in her cage and a week and a half later after shes only gained like 2 grams i started to think it was unsuccesful again so yestarday i put her in to see if she was gravid or not and she wasnt they mated once again for the third time in 3 weeks. I know the male is furtile ive seen his sperm and hes dropped a spermplug. So what could be the issue?

I am no expert at breeding, but I'm thinking maybe you are getting a little to excited and she hasn't really started producing the eggs yet? Doesn't it take like 40 days for her to lay? Just my thoughts, I'm not sure though. Just trying to give you something to go off of :)

no it usualy takes 20 - 30 days in afew RARE cases they have taken 40 days. and im not waiting for her to lay because im about 95 percent sure shes not gravid.

bump..

Oh, sorry I read that in a blog somewhere here on the forums that it is like 28-45 days at most. Maybe you can just breed her again if it isn't too stressful and she doesn't go crazy lol
