Why does he keep doing this?

He seems to do this before dinner time whenever I'm in the room with him. I did make it so he can get back up to his trees. Should I be concerned or is he just a weirdo?

Could be any number of reasons. Number one and two being he doesn't like either the physical parameters in the cage or more likely, he wants more space and room to explore. I don't like the sound of his feet on that harsh screen and if he is really persistent, he could pull out his claws and/or damage his feet. Can you place the cage up high and orient it horizontally, to provide more room for his to crawl back and forth? Chameleons like height, but they do more traveling laterally, than up and down. They enjoy looking down on their territory, so if the cage is high up, i.e. Above your eye level, then lateral space is best, IMO.

It looks like he wants out of his cage. My veiled does the same thing. If I see him doing laps or clinging to the front of his cage, I just open the door and he always comes out. Sometimes he'll go to the top of his cage and hang out up there and other times he'll go explore the living room and go to one of his favorite spots. There have been other posts in a different thread about this behavior. Seems like a lot of them do it as they get older. And when it's time to put him back in his cage, put him up in his trees if you're worried about him not knowing how to get up there. He'll figure it out.

My guy did this too. I also agree you need to put the cage up higher. I have mine sitting on a old end table I got from CCA it cost me about $6.00. He also would climb on the cage when I came in the room. So I started opening the cage only to find he just wanted to visit.
