Who likes spiders?

This is one evil looking spider, nothing cuddly about it.
We found it last night when my dad was sitting on the couch and it came from behind the couch creeping on the wall right next to him.

It gives me a wierd feeling down my spine.

im no fan of spiders but that does have a real cool look to it wonder if someone on here could identify it?

hmmmm my first thought was a brown recluse but for one the leg coloring didn't match up and 2 that thing is waaaaaaaaaaay to big to be one

would look good under my shoe imo. I hate spiders :p

my lil brother is arachnaphobic after seeing that old movie when he was like 4-5 on tv. He was late to class one day in 8th grade because there was a spider on his locker >.<

KILL IT WITH FIRE.........

that thing is to big to be spider!..i would have panic'd if that thing was on my wall, not a fan of spiders, but everything has its place.

I dont think i would panic, but i would definitely bring out the size 14 boot :D

That is one of those times when you aren't sure whether to call an insect exterminator or animal control since it is the size of a small animal. I had a run in with a nest of black widows awhile back on my porch. There were tiny babies everywhere and I was afraid that my dog was going to be bitten. I called a pest control company and the woman screamed when I told her what I saw which didn't make me feel any better about the situation. I ended up spraying bug spray everywhere and letting it air out. Im glad we don't have those spiders here though. What are you going to do with it?

Ok seeing that seriously sent a nasty shiver down my spine. If I was sitting in my living room and that thing was near me I would probably consider moving (my house). lol

We get some pretty crazy spiders here in Florida but nothing like that. That guy is huge and nasty! EEEEkkkk!

It would scare me if it just popped out of nowhere, but it is sorta cute. Here is my thing; I am absolutely scared to death of Little spiders crawling around the house, and the ones I can't see that I know are crawling on me when I am sleeping. (I believe we EAT an average of 8 spiders a year in our sleep...doesn't that just creep you out??!) But on that note, I hang onto tarantulas like they are cute little hamsters...although that isn't a good analogy because I HATE hamsters and guinea pigs...sorry if anyone has them :) But seriously I love watching "pet" spiders...just not the "wild" ones :)

That is a cool looking spider. Love the striped legs.

Ouch! My Florida house here is full of spiders due to my feeders-but nothing like that!

Same here. The cham room is riddled with them. I've tried to get rid of them but so far my efforts have been surprisingly unsuccessful.

I am confused. Why do you guys have spiders? From the chams? Please forgive me I am having a slow day.

they are attracted by the feeders we kept.
When there are food, the predator will present itself as well.
my backyard got attacked by ants this summer (apparently, everyone i know as well -perhaps, due to the weather change).
Lo and behold, black widows are everywhere hunting those ants.

I am afraid of black widows, but i hate ants.
So, i decided to leave them alone... and let nature do whatever she wants.

Living in Florida we have lots of bugs anyways, but keeping crickets in the house draws in the spiders, who are so well fed that they reproduce. There are many nights where I will watch a spiderling descend in front of my eyes by the light of the TV!

In fact since it has been cold, my outside chams have been inside and I am almost certain that there is a black widow holed up in the corner of my Oustalet cage. Today I noticed that it had killed another spider that was hanging in it's web, which I am suspicious is the male. When I get home I will vacuum her and any egg sacs right out of that cage BEFORE they hatch out all over the house!

Fantastic looking spider. Shame on all of you who would step on such a fine example of nature!

P.S. I encourage wolf spiders to live in my chameleon room, to capture any escaped crickets etc

I hope you don't mind ...
I posted your pictures on Arachnoboards forums to see if any of the spider people could ID your find for us.
Hopefully I will report back here with some info soon.;)
It's a beautiful animal.
