today i noticed one of the male roaches in my colony turned white. does anyone know what this means? they are dubias. white roach.jpg

Wow, he really looks like a discoid to me. I wish I knew better how to identify common feeder roach species.

And as Frans said, he just moulted and would actually make a pretty good snack.

so that shell in there wasnt a canibalized roach after all, but a shedded exo. sweet. i assumed there exo grew with them. they really look cool like that. like some cave roach or something, no pigment except black spot on head.

Discoids get rather large. Mine are bigger than my hissers. I am new to dubia. Here are my roaches:

those look sweet. nice setup, they do look like dubia. it is hard to tell do the females have mini wings? i bet the spieces is related.

The roach that just molted for you IS NOT a dubia (FYI)
I think Kenya is right and it is a discoid.
The females are dubia and the male right below the roach in question is a dubia.

it looked the same as the others just this morning. i took one out to inject with reptaid. when i got home i found a roach shell so i checked for more. i found this one eating carrots. when i got them from mulberry farm i did inventory. they all looked the the same. do discoids look realy dark brown when they are young?

heres a better pic. he is allready getting darker. must have found him right after molt. white roach 3.jpg i'll keep an eye on him if he doesnt get darker ill feed him off. no need for one discoid male.

Those look like Caves, not discoids, can you put a measuring stick next to one?

I can try. They are very skittery and honestly freak me the hell out.

They were sold to me as "false death heads" which generally means discoids. The one on the wood is the hisser.

check these pics they look alot alike. xBlaberus_discoidalis_0006_L_D.jpg

xBlaptica-Dubia-cockroaches-x3-male-female-juvenile-v2.jpg notice black spot on both male heads. it may be discoid mulberry used to carry them.

Here is one my girlfriend took out. It is 2.5 inches long and would not stop moving. If the photos above are labeled correctly, then this does look off for a discoid.

Yeah I have both :D Looks like a cave to me; dwarf or giant. A pic with a measuring stick would be helpful though. They can both make good feeders, but the giant caves breed slower.

hmmm, Im thinking giant cave but its small. Could be a cross between two :confused:I asked somebody for you, when they get back to me I'll let you know! I would like to know what sp it is too!
