Which would you trust more?

As it relates to temps, would you trust an infra red temp gun or one of these temp/humidity gauges.

I am getting a variance of up to 4 degrees with the gauge higher than the temp gun. Clearly the gun reads surface temps and the gauge air temp, but I don't imagine there should be that much variance within an inch of the gauge.

Which would you trust?

If you want the temp of your cham (such as his casque while basking), trust the temp gun. If you want the temp of an area of the cage (for example in an area away from the basking perch) use the gauge.
