whats heat rope for ?

i recently been to a reptile supply website n they got heat rope for sale you can buy like 12ft up to 24 ft. my questions are whats it used for? and how is it used?

as i've seen it it's mainly used on glass vivariums to heat it up. you just coul it ona side and it heats up.

It does work pretty well for insects, though. I have some tucked away somewhere that I have used in the past. You can use it on a dimmer or a rheostat. I plan to use it again here shortly to heat up a cabinet that I will use to keep bugs in.
