What is considered to young for the shower method?

My little one is about 3 months or so old and I personally feel he isn't getting enough water. would I be able to put him in the shower with the head of it against the wall for the mist to get on him? And the leaves? He's not the biggest fan of me when I mist the cage so maybe this will help?

I don't think there is a minimum age, personally, as long as the mist is gentle and there are areas of the plant where it may be dry so thry can choose. I might either use a low plant or sacrifice a towel to line the floor under the plant because baby chameleons tend to be a little more jumpy, so in case he decides to take a leap he will be fine. But most chameleons are uncomfortable for a minute and then realize that they love the warm mist and relax.

Just to add. If you want to save water and make it safer for the cham fashioning a pump sprayer somewhere where it sprays the plant is a good idea. This will save water and you wont be getting a ton of water rushing around the bottom of the bath tub.

This works well.. I hang the rod over the shower curtain rail, so that it sprays down onto the plant.

Thats what I do;) I really like how it minimizes the cham from accidentally aspirating a bunch of water. Even the largest cham could get into the wrong spot in a shower and aspirate. Ive never had any shower heads that would point as far to the wall as I would like. Not to mention the tons of water that runs down the side. Just seems much safer in many aspects to me along with saving some water.

I like this idea a lot! I'm going to try it. I make a huge mess trying to get the shower head to spray and bounce off of thevwall just right, water everywhere!!! :D

I could never get it to spray just how I wanted it to:mad: One day it just dawned on me:rolleyes:

So i put him in the shower with luke warm water misting over him, he seemed to have enjoyed it, didnt really move after the first minute or two but it he got something in his eye? a took him out a couple minutes after and he started rubbing my finger with his head trying to get it out. got really worried. i warmed him up, put some crickets and mealworms in the cage and got him to eat. hopefully a healthy sign. however that one keeps closing. hopefully this doesnt persist

Yea, I've never even tried the shower head method, it always seemed counter intuitive! I also use a pump sprayer proped up just right. One gallon of water gives me a good 30-40 minute shower.

I found an attachment at Home Depot for my kitchen sink tap that sprays much like a shower. Both my chams love it and will sit under it for hours if I let them!!

I was always under the impression that the warm steam that filled the shower was one of the primary benfits of the shower method. Is this not lost utilizing the bucket method?

I don't want to begin to think about how much water I waste on my cham or I will begin to feel guilty. I can't even imagine the ratio of water my cham ingests vs the amount that flows off into drainage. Add to that the every gallon of my RO water takes 3 gallons of tap water to produce.... yikes
