my cage get hot while i am at work and there isnt a way to reduce the temperature, does the chameleon do something to reduce the heat, as for example, he goes and hide in between the leaf or something?

Well yes, your cham would go down lower into the cage...what are your cage temps? Lower the wattage of your bulb if it's getting too hot...overheating is definitely not too good!

They can not sweat or pant so there is not much they can do to lower their own body temperature. The most they can actively do is gape and try to dissipate heat that way, but it's not very effective. You need to lower the ambient temperature to give your Cham an opportunity to regulate their metabolism appropriately. As ectotherms their body temp is dependent on the environmental temp.

i have seen the temp get about 92 to 95 in the after noon, so i turn off the basking light. but when im at work i want to know what should i do or what will my chameleon do.

Maybe theres a cooler room in your house you can move your cham to. if not you can drop your basking wattage as other have mentioned. On hot days I shut my basking lights off early .This does require a 2nd timmer if your at work. If you have a misting system you can set it to go off more often. Oh and its ok to worry!!:D

Sorry to highjack the thread, but also is a little bit relevant in the discussion,

What if the powers goes out? For over a day or more, being we are in hurricane season...you know what I'm trying bring here....
