There is a bit of a rant about the reptile show in orlando i went to yesterday on here. The rant is in quotes, you can skip it if you wish and go straight to the small paragraph under it for info on my chams problem.
"So I was actually kind of disappointed with the Repticon show...While I did have a wonderful time seeing some very rare creatures (most of which were being properly handled where keepers were encoraging hand sanitizer and explaining things about each animals needs as a pet) I did not approve of one or more of the vendors methods of keeping, showing and selling these beautiful animals. One table in the back corner of the show exhibited a panther cham whose eyes were shut the entire show, at that same table in a small tub was a sulcata tortoise with the worst pryimiding I had ever seen in person being sold for an outragous $450 price tag. There was also 3 other vendors who had multiple speices of chams kept in small cramped quarters where they fought and pulled eachother down off the screen. A giant spiney being housed with a graceful chameleon is just wrong...
The worst vendor table though was the one with a medium screen cage filled with large graceful chams. They were in the worst condition, most of them laying on the floor of the cage, eyes sunken completely in. While i stood there gawking at these horrors a man handed me this smaller graceful cham. His tail was ruined and bent with black flesh covering the end, eyes sunken in and his entire body looked beat up. My sis and I left him there. When we got home we felt so awful that we got back in the car and spent the $20 to rescue this pathetic animal. We got him caging and lighting and a tree."
Rant over. He has 2 small tan in color crusty looking spots on his back. Will these heal over time? Are they a fungus? Do they look like burns or fight marks to you? Vet time soon for parasites and that tail but i figured i would get an idea of what else might be going on. Picture attached
Thank you for your time. Not all of repticon was bad though!! I gained some knowledge and saw some awesome sights. I just feel it should be better monitered.
