Western Cape - Bradypodion South Africa

A few weeks ago I headed into the Western Cape Winelands to photograph a few localised Bradypodion.

The area called Robertson is mainly Grape Vineyards and the town is known for the quality wine and fruit it produces.

First target was Bradypodion gutturale - Little Karoo Dwarf Chameleon.

Shortly after I was done in Robertson - I headed towards Swellendam, where it's known there is a population of undescribed Bradypodion which resemble Bradypodion damaranum - Knysna Dwarf Chameleon. Although genetically they differ so currently they're not formally described.

Known only as Bradypodion sp (Grootvadersbosch)

These animals have extremely long tails as do most of the forest species.

Good to see the photos. Do the wine companies remove the chameleons there before harvesting the grapes?

Unlikley, although few chameleons are found in the vinyards. Although the natural vegetation around these farms have a few chameleons.
