Watering your chameleon

I don't think my Panther is drinking very much. What are the best ways to help. I have a dripped and I mist his cage like 3 to 4 times a day. He also walks around with his mouth open. It makes me think he is thirsty.

got any pics of your setup and your panther? some dont like to drink or eat if being watched

What are his baking and ambient temps? Gaping can be a sign of over heating. When you mist, use warm water. That way it is comfortable for your Cham when it comes out of the nozzle. It always stimulates drinking with my guy. Also be sure the enclosure is drying completely between misting sessions. 3-4 times a day is a lot imo. Hope this helps!

I haven't figured out how to post pics. It won't let me. My temps range from 70-80 for basking. Humity is low around 45-55. I haven't been able to get the humity up. Or the temp. I have a 60 watt daytime bulb. He's about 6 months old.

are you using uvb?or uva? for pics click on manage attachments in additional options, browse for photo, click on it then upload next to photo

Mine won't drink from misting but loves the dripper. You can build a dripper or buy one at the store pretty cheap. That could help. Make the dripper so it drops on several leafs on it's way down.

I had a problem with humidity until I put live plants in the enclosure.

Hi Ben, I think maybe I should move my dripped. I have 3 plants in there. Maybe he drinks when am not looking.

you should be fine, as long as he can adjust temp by climbing and cover as needed. do a heavy mist and make sure your soaking the leaves and the whole surrounding, dont be scared to mist by ur cham or even on him, mine will lick it up and go nuts on the cage during misting time.... drippers help alot as a steady drinking system, you must still mist tho...

That could be. Look at his urates. White is good, yellow is slightly dehydrated, and orange is severely dehydrated.

Thank you. I know it's not orange. Maybe white I will check. This is my first Panther. I really enjoy him.
