I can't believe it. I had just passed the 8-month mark with him. He was doing GREAT! Within 8 hours he deteriorated and died, full-blown sunken-eye syndrome. (If it had not been night-time, I'd have rushed him to the vet.) He was not dehydrated or obviously undernourished. The gravid female that was with him is doing fine.
